  • Gripping story

Oh my goodness Dale Mayer, this book took me to disturbing areas that I didn't even want to think about but I was hooked from the first page. Kate Morgan worked hard to get her promotion to detective but she was replacing a much loved and respected member of the team and she was going to have to fight hard to be accepted and gain their respect. This didn't bother Kate, she preferred working on her own, standing up for the victims of crime because that was an area that she knew so much about, it was personal. When Kate noticed a connection between a current hideous case that she was working on and some cold cases from the past the victims started to mount and these victims were mostly children. Wealth gambler/ property dealer Simon St. Laurant had the gift of sight, he didn't want to acknowledge the fact but his grandmothers words kept coming back to him. When Simon began texting Kate with information he immediately became top of the suspect list. Simon was quite an odd character, his wealth was self made but he gave a lot of it away, what was he hiding ? Despite this there was a strange attraction between no nonsense, straight talking Kate and Simon that they couldn't ignore but they must, he was a prime suspect. This story is gripping, powerful and disturbing with nail biting suspense, it is the first book in this series and I can't wait for the next one, this series has the makings of being one of Dale Meters best. Comment I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Edge of your seat read

I received this book as an ARC for my honest review. The crimes in this book are revolving around child sex rings so may be a trigger for some readers. Simon and Kate are reluctant to have anything to do with each other but work together to solve pedophile sex ring cases that are linked and go back many years. This takes place in Vancouver, which I live within 30 minutes of. It was nice to know about the places that were being mentioned. Very well written storyline with amazing characters. There were some twists there that I was not expecting. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

  • Paranormal, Anger Sorrow Hope

Heart wrenching, disturbing and unfortunately takes place all over the world. Dale Mayer takes a horrific subject (pedophiles) to start this new series of newly minted detective Kate Morgan and Simon, a wealthy man with his own brutal past who has *the sight* . There is anger, horror, sorrow and hope. This is written from various characters points of view and at times I felt tangled up. As if I was Kate trying to determine who the players were, making the connections. Kate appeared very abrasive to me. As the new detective, on a solid team who lost a loved member, some of it is understandable. Just when I thought I couldn't ever like her as a person, we saw a little more give and I was hooked. The first time I met one of the characters, I knew he was going to be bad, but the ending where it is all put together with everyone was unexpected. I love a book that throws me, and this did. It also inspired me to read again, and I don't read books twice. This series has me signed up for the ride. Thank you Dale Mayer , thank you Booksprout for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

  • This new series is a hit!

Kate Morgan was recently promoted to detective replacing someone everyone liked. When Kate starts linking a string of kidnappings and child murders together, she is determined to prove herself by solving the case. Simon has the gift of sight but doesn’t want to embrace his gift. After nights of nightmares, Simon can’t ignore the messages that he is getting and heads to the police station. There he meets Kate and much to their chagrin, a connection is formed between them. I really loved this book. I loved reading the steps Kate takes to find the killer. I loved the relationship that she has with Simon. At first she isn’t sure if he is psychic or the killer, but as Simon helps her investigation she begins to trust him. There is so much to like in this book. It has wonderful characters, an original plot, and many twists and turns along the way. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • A book that will grab hold of you and not let go

Wow..just wow! This is a book that will grab hold of you and twist your emotions, from start to finish. Sleep was lost so I could read this book in one day/night. I have zero regrets about the lost sleep! What a great read. Wow. I wanted to reach into the story and strangle the criminals involved. Many different emotions were brought forward while reading this book. I can’t wait to read book two. A fantastic read, and definitely another winner for Dale Mayer.
