  • How to battle impossible odds

A fine example of Parker at his best - a flawed and unreliable narrator, an intriguing premise (defending the indefensible, hence the need to invent the sixteenth way of the title). The plot rattles along nicely - and then stops... Possibly the only way to actually finish but slightly unsettling and therefore a trifle disappointing.

  • Starts good but the ending sucks

I was well and truly hooked on this book virtually the whole way through, I'd go so far as to say it felt like something terry pratchett had a hand in writing (I absolutely love the disc world novels, by the way) But the ending?! Seriously that's not how you end a book without really annoying your readers, there's no real conclusion or pay off for getting invested in the story and world. Just a massive time skip that barely explains anything. I would recommend avoiding this one :-/
