    Thanks for your feedback!

    Highly recommended

It's the first book I read by this author and won't surely be the last. It was a gripping and entertaining read that kept me on the edge till the last page. I loved the solid mystery, fast paced and full of twists, the well thought cast of character and the setting. I look forward to reading the next instalment in this series. Highly recommended. Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Great start to a new crime series

This is the first book in a new series by Gregg Olsen introducing Detective Megan Carpenter. I have read a few books by this author so was looking forward to seeing a new series. The story is set in and around Port Townsend and Snow Creek, Washington. Ida Watson was reported missing by her sister, her children tell Detective Megan Carpenter that their mum and dad had gone to do some charity work in Mexico a few weeks ago. But when Megan investigates it seems that they never arrived. Megan has secrets she is still dealing with from her childhood, she had a different name. Now she has to deal with a murder after a body is found of a woman that had been reported missing by her sister. Can Megan cope with her memories and still solve this murder? I liked Megan, she is intelligent, good at her job and damaged, her character comes across well, she is believable and relatable, likewise with the other characters they all seem to be well rounded, thought out and the relationships all work. Which is a great start when you are bringing characters in for a new series. It seems the people that pick to live above Snow Creek, Washington do so because they want to live off the grid, they want seclusion, some of the residents have secrets. The plot is fast paced and engrossing, developing a picture of Snow Creek both as a place but also of the people. I liked that it’s not just the one main storyline, the plot is complex. What I enjoyed is that questions are left unanswered at the end of this book leaving you wanting more, so anything not tied up in this book will carry over. Let’s hope we don’t have too long to wait for the second book in the series. A great start to what promises to be another good series to follow. I would like to thank #netgalley and #Bookouture for an ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest, fair and unbiased review.

Curiosity will win against all odds

Not bad for a first book of the series. The case itself is compelling enough to arouse curiosity, and turn page after page dying to know who, why and how. It is the detective’s own case to have a weak reflection upon the most important point of her life. I could not feel the great significance of it despite it being solely built for the entire series. Which is a pretty big deal in order to support Detective Carpenter in the next book. Aside from it, Snow Creek has all there is to have in a crime fiction- suspense, confusion, cold-blooded murders, mystery etc. The characters of Snow Creek display the kinds of people living in this world with a mask of their own; some with corrupt history, some with wicked history and some with history of confidentiality best left alone. I would recommend it to all the readers who love crime fiction with a hint of psychological thriller! I hope that the next book would turn Carpenter’s personal life with a solid narration, enough to leave us with a reader’s block. Thanks so much to Gregg Olsen and Bookouture for this advanced digital review copy, would love to read more from the writer!

    Gregg Olsen a favorite author

Loved the story, the characters, the plot twists & turns and the area the story takes place in. My only complaint is that I have to wait to read the next in the series.........//
