  • Loved it!

Can’t wait to read more of this story...seemed to end really abruptly.

    Thanks for your feedback!

  • Great book

Took me a few chapters to get into it but it didn't take long until I was hooked. I was sad when it ended :(

  • Disappointing

An imaginary recount of a young boy's early life in England and Australia. The narrator looks back at his experiences as a convict transported to Australia during its early white settlement. Billed as an adult novel, I believe the story would be far better suited to a teen novel (albeit with some editing). I didn't find the narrator's educated tone very credible and felt like I was being given a high school history lesson about British colonisation in Australia. However, I have read Marsden's fiction for teenagers and thought it was terrific (the Tomorrow series). This book would be better repackaged as an educational historical text for students aged 10-16.

  • South of Darkness

More like an exercise in words. The story line is pretty boring. Disappointed with the author as I have enjoyed other books written by him
