    Unprejudiced Biography

I enjoyed this history of what I had believed to be an absolutely satanic man! This history put a little more of a human face on him notwithstanding his ruthlessness. He was so devoted to the party and to bringing Russia out of its backwardness. Lenin's betrayal began a lifelong distrust of people which only grew worse with time.

Well written Russian perpective of Stalin.

I grew up in the West during the Stalinist era and, of course, heard all of the western propaganda. While I cannot condone many of the things he did; I, at least, can understand his motives. A well written book which flows from problem to problem which can help westerners to understand what was happening in Russia during his era.
