  • Time well spent

Swamp Angel is a beautifully-written, thought-provoking novel that reads as Canadian, through and through. The descriptions of the town and the wild B.C. lakes and forests - I can actually smell the lake and it's surrounding conifers. Ethel Wilson wrote Swamp Angel in 1954 - 65 years ago! - yet it seems very contemporary in the way she describes each character's personality and their relationships. It feels timeless that way. I just loved this book and I loved the way it made me feel as I finished ... at peace, at ease, and like all's well in the world. And it made me feel so proud to be Canadian. What a truly beautiful, inspiring work of fiction. I'm so glad I finally took the time to read it. It was definitely time well spent.
