  • Witty pageturner

I generally think you get what you pay for, but this book was on sale supper cheap & much to my delight, I loved it! Fun characters, imaginative plot, lots of action. Recommended.

  • Fun read but too wordy

It was a great little mystery with a little twist near the end but I found the author went off on side tangents that weren't necessary. In fact I got to the point where I was skipping over those sections as I didn't feel it added anything of value to the story. I felt his book read more like a play than a novel. There was far too much dialogue in certain places particularly where it involved the thugs scene at the house. That said, it was a fun little mystery and there were little comical pieces peppered throughout.

  • A great thriller in a quiet countryside

An innocent glance over the fence starts a curious investigation about the coming and going of a not so friendly lawnmower man. After the episode of the monkies escaping, things began to get weird and dangerous.

  • Funny, very likable narrator + solid story

I really enjoyed this book: a nice cozy mystery with lots of laugh out loud moments. I told my friend about it, and she loved it too. We've been reading the other Barbara Marr mysteries, which are good too.

  • Entertaining

Interesting bunch of characters introduced in the book. Interpersonal relationships brought forth were believable.....read like on old 1940's black and white gangster movie in parts.......I found it quite entertaining if somewhat convoluted........in my opinion this author writes as if she is telling you the story in person.
