  • Excellent debut novel

Having read C J Sansom and Rory Clements was initially unsure of another Elizabethan murder myster but this book has turned out to be a worthy addition to the genre and I look forward to there, hopefully, being further adventures for Dr. Shelby!

  • Very Enjoyable

Good plot, good pace and well researched history-wise. Nice balance between politics, religion and daily life of the time. Very enjoyable.

  • A transport to the past

As the author rightly remarks, life in Elizabethan England is difficult to truly imagine. However, this story does an excellent job of taking you into that world. The tale itself is engaging and the characters are well described. It is easy to share the feelings of the lead, whose loss and recovery themselves are worth the read alone.

    Thanks for your feedback!
