  • A Good Egg

Jasper Fforde is king of literary metafiction. Great concept: Detective Jack Spratt must solve the murder of Humpty Dumpty. Fforde ticks all the boxes of the crime-thriller genre but with added humour and an endless stream of nursery rhyme references. Brilliant, addictive stuff.

  • As reliable as an Austin Allegro

My first introduction to Jasper Fforde was the Thursday Next saga. After a bit of a break, I decided to take the plunge with the Nursery Crime books. This first book steps the humour up a notch from the Next books - but the style is similar. Is it over-egged? I don't think so.
