  • The Big Short

Read it. It is better than watching the movie. You get more understanding from the book and hopefully this convince you to pursue other worthwhile dreams than scamming people by working in the large financial institutions who do not know what the fuck they are doing and are absolutely greedy. And they got away with it...

  • Everyone should read this

This is a fantastic book. Much better than the film (which was also very good). Beautifully written, very gripping, wonderful characterisation. Even as an insider (equities not filthy fixed income) during the crisis at one of the banks most impacted, I was reeling with the detail and numbers. A rare 5 stars.

  • Entertaining and insightful

Great read. I watched the movie first, but got lost a little, so I bought this book. It clarified things greatly for me as it is so well written. It made me enjoy a lot more my second viewing of the movie.

  • great expose

An interesting insight into the destruction of modern financial services in the United States and how it effectively toppled the US' capitalism model.

  • Good history but needs finance knowledge

An important story explaining the history of the great (self-inflicted) financial disaster of 2008. Covers only the immediately preceding years, without studying how the bad mortgages came to be written originally. Lays bare the hubris of Wall Street traders and the unwarranted assumption of the infallibility of the financial system. Sadly also demonstrates that governments made wrong decisions to socialise the losses which should have been borne by the Wall Street (and other financial centres) operators and operatives themselves. Spoiled at the end by a ranting section about the Trump administration and the Department of Energy. Totally unrelated to the main topic of the book.

    Thanks for your feedback!
