  • The Black House

An excellent story written about a place where time and tradition intersect with and struggle against the modern world. Very few books are difficult for me to put down, however The Black House is a true page turner. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • The blackhouse

A story about love, friendship, family. .. loss and disappointment. Kind of sad, but intriguing. words so powerful and alive, as if i have been there, tasting the salty air and feeling the stiff breeze of the Atlantic ocean.

  • Too many flashbacks for me

A good thriller but the constant time slips did get a little tedious. Now that the character of Fin has been established the next book in the series may be plotted a little more directly.

  • Very enjoyable

Good story and solid characters set in a picturesque location. Very enjoyable. I'll definitely look out for the rest of the trilogy.

  • Gritty and enthralling

May captures the harsh beauty of Lewis and winds his tale cleverly between Fin's growing up on the island and his return to solve a murder.
