  • Another great story from Msr Walker

This a another great story, chronicle, travelogue and guide to the beautiful area of the Perigord told, as usual, through the twists and turns of a crime novel. Martin Walker is a great story teller who has created a set of characters I almost expect to meet on my visits to the Dordogne region. He weaves their lives, loves and tales throughout compelling plots and dramas. Bruno is a delightful character who seems just too nice a guy all round, yet so unlucky in love (though he doesn’t exactly go without). And what would I give to be invited to one of his dinners! Keep up the good work Martin, and give us another escape to St Denis very soon. Many thanks!

  • Bruno yet again

A pleasure to read with food and a glass of wine - whatever the provenance! As an amateur participant in the Tour Dr France and having cycled through rural France to see it on many occasions, I feel a presence in St Denis - stopping at the campsite and wandering into the town for fluid refreshment and l'Air Francais.

  • The Body in the Castle Well

Always fascinating to follow Bruno with his broad interests. This one covers a large canvas and includes most of the characters but with new intriguing ones. Sad story of the loss of a talented, beautiful and kind young woman.

  • Keep on writing please

Another really good story from Martin Walker. I know this area very well and he takes me there every time. Such an interesting insight into the French policing system. Keep on writing please (and cooking!)
