    A worthy read

I loved this book. I am not one to read self help books, but so much of her story resonated with me. It's a great read, full of insight and challenges that many mothers (and fathers) have faced.

    Lifechanging

I'm not normally a big one for self-help books; I dislike being talked down to, being told that if I subscribe to XYZ philosophy, all my troubles will be over (and I'll be thin, rich and so on). But the Brave Art of Motherhood is different; part autobiography, part self-help guide to introspection, the Brave Art of Motherhood is a motivating book to inspire mothers, women, anyone, to get out of their rut of tolerating life and start chasing their dreams. Rachel has been there. She's been in the Motherhood trenches, she's dealt with phenomenal hardships, overcome them through grit and hard work and is sharing how she did it. How she unstuck her life and reclaimed her sense of self. This book is like the friend you talk to at dark-o'clock, when your whole world feels like it's become four walls and a feeding baby. This book - Rachel - is the friend you talk to when you're done in but need to keep going. These are the words you tell your mum-friends when they're in crisis but forget to apply to yourself. Although you may have traveled a different path to her, Rachel's story is eminently relatable, and there are so many aspects that resonate deeply within me. I want to share this book with so many of my friends. Read it.

The Brave Art of Motherhood was written by a blogger/mom who has been through a heck of a lot! She is an amazing woman and it’s understandable how popular her blog is and that she decided to write a book as well. For me, personally, the content was too much to just sit down and read. I prefer to subscribe to blog posts or something similar for topics like this. Then, you just get maximum one post per day on a certain topic and you can move on to the next thing. I find motivational topics work better for me like that. Otherwise, my brain becomes overloaded and I’m probably not going to follow the advice as much or I’ll forget what all I read. Whereas, if you’re just getting one small article per day, you have time to process it. That’s just me though. I’m sure others are fine with it. I wasn’t able to really relate to a lot of her examples, though I understood and appreciated her message. She is a single mom of 7. I’m married and have one kid. Quite the difference. But even so, the messages were clear and important. Not many will relate to everything in the book, but I think the things you can relate to are helpful to read about. If you are a fan of motivational books such as this and if you are a parent (especially a struggling parent), this book is for you. I thought it was good for what it was…it maybe just wasn’t my cup of tea.

    Phenomenal, mind-changing, eye-opening!!!

This book is AMAZING! I was one of the lucky ones to get a pre-released copy and it did not disappoint. This book is visceral and heart-wrenching. It makes you dig deep and discover the real you. It makes you realize what you've been putting on hold due to kids, or life, and gives you courage to take that first step to finding yourself again. This book highlights every day things we use (labels, masks, excuses), or do (procrastinate, keep busy to ignore real issues), that tramples on the steps we need to take to start living our lives now, instead of later, when the timing is right or the kids are grown. This book offers you incentive to dig deep, fight your fears, overcome hurdles, find courage, stand up for yourself, and to just breathe. I HIGHLY recommend this book to mothers and any other person, woman or man, who is looking to get unstuck.
