  • Cain Box Set

Positives - engaging plot; good story arc across novels; main characters are well developed Negatives - EDITING!! I found it nearly impossible to read more than a chapter or two at a time due to the terrible editing. Grammar, phrasing and language usage are painful throughout. At one point in the first book, Cain offers his victim a "Hertz" instead of a "hearse". Spell Check won't help you there! Mr Ryan is also prone to repeating himself, sometimes in the same sentence. Action sequences are better executed than parts in which characters share their feelings. The Cain/Heather relationship is awkwardly handled at best. Many of the latter passages read like bad internet fan fiction. I would love to read a properly edited version of these books. They would easily be best sellers.

  • Terrible

The story line is very thin and the author tends to repeat the same thought frequently. The electronic version is filled with missed and incorrect words. I assume this is due to the translation from the written version, although keeping score of the errors made the read slightly more interesting.

  • Mediocre page turner

The points in favour of this box set are that it gives you a couple of days diversion, at little cost. However, the broad plot is thin: from the outset you know who is the villain and what happened to Cain. The characters have no depth; the scenes are 'paint by numbers'. Not appalling, but not good.

  • Fast action no frills reading

This author is a real action writer, he does not dwell on insignificant information just to fill Space. Things are fast paced, no losing time on one scene to another. À little to much emphasis is placed on girlfriend. Really good, not to many caracters, buy this series.

  • Loved it!

I’m always on the lookout for books featuring fearless, bold heroes who tackle evil, facing impossible odds. This series has that. The four stories in this series must be read together as the story is not resolved until the end. I loved the characters.`
