  • A celebration of the power of togetherness

Annie Lyon’s new book, The Choir on Hope Street, tells the story of two women, Natalie and Caroline, who are trying to find harmony in their recently upturned lives and help save a local community centre by starting the Hope Street Choir. Annie’s writing is fluid, fresh and very funny. Her characters, Natalie and Caroline are totally believable and there is much to share with them. I sing with Annie in Churchfields Community Choir, the real-life choir which inspired her novel and reading this wonderful book drew tears of recognition, both of laughter and sadness. Fiction and reality blurred and I expected to bump into Natalie and Caroline at our next choir rehearsal! In truth, their essence is there at every rehearsal. Annie has captured the spirit of our choir, indeed of all choirs, in this novel. The Choir on Hope Street is a celebration of the strength of togetherness and the hopeful power of communal singing. Enjoy! I received an advance copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

    Thanks for your feedback!
