  • The Consequences of War

This novel begins in 1989 but through the memories of the fictional author, Georgia takes us back to the Britain summer of 1939, prior to the outbreak of WW II. It takes us into the homes of the people who inhabit a fictional community of Markham. We meet a frustrated young wife who is left behind when her much older husband is called up to a regiment in preparation for war. As the war begins, women are called forth to take on more and more duties that their fathers, brothers and the young men are no longer present to do. All in all a good story that highlights the societal shift that occurred as a result of war.
