  • Light, enjoyable read

Another light and and easy read about the Cornish village of Penmenna and the people who live there. It was quite predictable but still enjoyable and fun to read. It was very similar to the first book - same characters with a few additions and a plausible story.

  • Delightful & Entertaining!

Such a delightful read! Every bit as good as the first one and both great stand-alone reads... Sylvie and her son Sam are making the best of the summer days before Sam begins his school life. Alex and his daughter Ellie are having a short break from London in the gorgeous Cornish village of Penmarra. When outgoing Ellie and shy Sam make friends, the adults don't really have any choice but to become acquainted... I loved the first book in this series; wholly original and a super story with fabulous people. To my delight, this one introduces new characters whilst still including those from the previous book - a completely new story with a different focus. I love that the author has avoided the trap of harking back to the details of the first one, meaning that it's still possible to go back and read it if you haven't done so already. This is a charming read; the characters are all so appealing in a strong story with plenty of humour thrown in. I just adored everything about it! The setting is idyllic but living in a picturesque village doesn't mean that the inhabitants don't have to face the ups and downs of everyday life, just like the rest of us. With plenty going on, it's one which kept me glued to the page until the very last, when I released a happy sigh of contentment. A terrific read and I hope there's more to come in this topnotch series. Absolutely recommended to those who enjoy an entertaining rom-com with a bit of substance to the story!

  • The Cornish Village School - Second Chances

I loved this book from the first page to the end, uplifting story but not too sweet to make you wince.
