  • An ok read

Thought it plodded along with not much action for too long, that is until the last few chapters. When the big reveal came, it felt a bit overdue.

  • The Cuckoo's Calling

I enjoyed this book so much! 5 stars are not enough for this author, these characters, the plot, the twists and turns and the capture of the ordinary within the thrill of the story. Just brilliant.

  • The Cuckoo's Calling

Enjoyed this book. Much better than The Casual Vacancy. Plenty of characters and plot twists. A real page-turner.

  • Entertaining page turner

It kept me guessing right up to the end. In the finest tradition of detective stories, we have the broken down detective, his efficient assistant and bereaved brother asking for investigation of a murder that the police force has determined was suicide,. However despite being very generic, in this tale everything is tipped just a little off kilter and the characters develop in ways you don't immediately expect.

  • Tentative start but ends explosively

Gaps in description/expansion of character. A lot of plot elements here, many which are unresolved by novel's end though presumably the sequel will tie up those. A good read however with many suspects, the identity of whom is not revealed until the end.

    Thanks for your feedback!
