  • Not for the faint-hearted

This is a great series – although not for the faint-hearted. Creepy, dark, suspenseful AND character-driven, which is a top combination for me. Each book more than satisfies on its own, but as a trilogy they build to an incredible finale. More people should read this series. Highly recommended!

  • Suspenseful

Wow. What a series of books. A missing boy that seems to appear several years later. He doesn’t seem to be the same. You won’t want to miss any of the stories

  • An ordinary town. A very clever killer.

Malcolm Richards is one of my favourite authors in that his books start in such ordinary, innocuous places - and then, suddenly, all hell breaks loose. Circle of Bones is no different. Blake comes home to her sleepy little town to help her mother heal after a broken leg. She is fed up, bored, irritated and has no idea if her life as a private investigator is worth pursuing. Then, a beautiful young girl goes missing. The mother of this girl is Blake's childhood friend. They were four young and carefree kids when one disappeared. Years later there is nothing indicating where their friend is, until Blake finds the young girl horrifically murdered and she realises both cases are linked. If she only knew.... Well written with a twist that is as horrible as the murder. You won't see it coming. The author puts the pieces of the puzzle together like a very fragile work of art, and the result is shocking. Brilliant.

  • The Devil s Cove Trilogy

Surprisingly compelling this novel set kept me glued to the events and twists and turns of a simple family who suffered a loss. But when the one desire all people have of that person returning how it changes the mother, the rest of the family as the truth comes out and suspicion is cast on everyone around them. What happens and how life becomes a nightmare. Unique take on how children can be used and damaged and in return cause payback to the adults in their lives. If you like a strongly written set of psychological thrillers these are it.
