  • This trilogy flows together so well as a complete story, I couldn't put it down. Preston & Child do a fantastic job with the subtleties of language and thought process that each individual character would have when following each character's point of view. Having now read other Pendergast stories, I realize that characters from those are seamlessly worked into cameos in this trilogy, in a way that isn't obtrusive or confusing. Despite what an engaging character Pendergast is, I can't quite picture him. I can't put my finger on why that is- something about the descriptions of him is inconsistent. This is the only time that I am reminded that the books are written by two people working together. Perhaps they each have a slightly different view of him. Overall, an excellent read full of lots of interesting characters and an exciting plot. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good crime thriller, with a supernatural twist.
