    Beginning of an epic adventure

I'm just gonna quickly say this to clear things up. Yes this book is like lord of the rings but it's a fantasy and if you keep on reading the next books the series then it becomes its own adventure. That aside if you are considering reading this series you should know that it can be very long and explicative to the point where some readers will just give up on the series. But to those who persevere then this series will be one of the most amazing things you will ever read.

    Feels like an unfinished edit.

The story itself is quite good, worthy of 4 stars. A number of unfinished aspects contribute to the rating. There is much filler text which attempts to flesh out the characters which is repeditive or redundant- certainly longer than it needs to be. Coupled with many cultural nuances and language (not a unique problem in the high fantasy genre) makes the transition chapters, and had me contemplate putting it down. It reads like a second draft, needing the contributions of a decent editor to improve the flow (my own expertise is limited to reading a decent amount in the genre -if you dont notice it is probably fine). I liked the story enough to look forward to the next book, hopefully with maturing of RJs writing style. Hopefully the character development imroves as well.

    Wheel of time series

I have read all of the series up to and including the penultimate novel.I have enjoyed them immensely as they have held my attention and have left me awaiting the final chapter. Well written.
