    THE FINAL STORM BY JEFFSHAARA

A very great storie telling of history kid's now days get very little of I really liked the end review of the carateriers showing that each of them con't to great things. We always seem to be byepassed by the advance of time and younger people are reguired to do more up dated things, no wonder rocking chairs were designed.

    OK..

As a combat vet, I understand the fear and insanity that goes on in killing people that is described in this book.

    The Final Storm.

This book did not give me as good"a feel" for the men on the ground in the Pacific as did books like "A Helmet for My Pillow" and other biographical books of that ilk did. Shaara tried to cover the Navy, Marines, Air Force, the common enlisted man, the upper echelons, the Japanese position and philosophy, US politics, and then wrapped it up with a follow through of all the major players. The island campaigns, the bomb, the politics, and the enemy constitute too much of a story for one book. In my opinion, this book 'bit off more than it could possibly have chewed.
