  • Enchanting

History cannot erase a noble people. This enlightens the reader to believe in Humanity. Politics so often muddle the true reality of a Nation being led astray unwittingly & irrevocably. And , of course, Love conquers all-almost.

    Thanks for your feedback!

  • Searching for Love

I loved this book. It's a bitter sweet idealized love story set in the turmoil of Baghdad, that touches on the long tragedy of struggles of the region. Like a budding flower of hope amongst hard rock.

  • Good people, difficult times

I enjoyed this book very much. It is written in simple prose and reads almost like a fable. The story of Ali, a brilliantly talented and passionate gardener, and Mary the beautiful daughter of a British general in 1950s Iraq, is moving. It speaks not only to prejudice and hate but more to essential goodness. The plot may have been far-fetched but it worked. A very easy and satisfying read.

    Thanks for your feedback!
