  • First in a Great New Police Detective Series

This action-packed, intense, who-done-it with an intriguing new lead character named Erika Foster was interesting and well written. Erika has 25 years on the job and is no shrinking violet. When a serial murderer breaks form and steps over the line to kill a wealthy young woman rather than Eastern European prostitutes Erika is called in to lead the investigation. Erika’s brash comments and behavior manage to step on toes from the very beginning. She continues to work the case as she believes it should be handled rather than bowing to pressure from those above her who want to keep someone with clout happy. More murders and deaths occur, numerous suspects are pursued, help is provided to Erika by Peterson and Moss and eventually she is lined up in the crosshairs of the serial murderer wondering if she will survive. At times I felt Erika took risks a seasoned investigator might not have, I wondered at her lack of political insight/caring and hoped that all would eventually work out for her. As the first book in a new series there is much to explore in Erika’s past and a future for her that could include any number of wonderful or not so wonderful things. I have a feeling this series has potential. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the copy of this book to read and review.

  • A great read with a surprise ending!

I bought The Girl in the Ice when I was traveling on holiday and wanted something to read on the bus. I hadn't read a book for enjoyment for about 5 years so I was happily surprised when after a few pages I quickly became interested in the story and later the characters which I think are all great. I really enjoyed this book and it gets an A+ for me not working out who the killer was beforehand as normally I pick it (in either a movie or book) early in the beginning (been reading and watching murder mysteries for more than 30 years). I have just purchased The Night Stalker and hope the author is writing a few more murder mysteries for me as soon as possible!!

    Thanks for your feedback!
