  • The Girl Who Saved the King of Swede

An amusing romp through the devastation of apartheid, nuclear proliferation, the economic rise of China and diplomacy, this pseudo political/historical piece is inhabited with highly flawed yet warm and rich characters in their desire for a better life. The heroine , a native of Soweto, beautifully portrays what is inherently wrong with racist sentiments. She is clever, inventive and gains the respect of all she meets both on a personal and public level. She also possesses a strong insight into human nature to guide the people she meets to a better way of life, despite their self-serving needs. The prose has a simple openess and is dripping in irony.

  • Enjoyable yarn

I love how the story starts off with a 12 girl in South Africa and ends up involving the king of Sweden and the prime minister, although slightly long winded in places, I found it enjoyable, funny and would recommend

  • Clunky

Entertaining at first but then all the contrivances of the plot began to fell clumsy.
