  • OK, just OK.

I have found these two books in the Magicals Anonymous' series really hard going. I bought them whilst still reading the brilliant 'Matthew Swift' series, deciding that anything by this writer is bound to be excellent. What a mistake. Whilst the Swift novels were dark and brooding the 'Magical's seemed just plain silly. The main character were really annoying especially Rhys (Welsh people really do not keep saying 'see' at the end of very sentence); the vampire Kevin was awful - straight out of panto. In fact the whole cast seemed like panto characters, including Swift who seemed to have a personality transplant. I'm hoping Griffin returns to the original Matthew Swift books and this lot just end up in a large pit from which they never emerge. Ultimately my mistake for buying before trying. Not one I'll make again.

    Thanks for your feedback!
