  • Feels newly relevant

Recent mining of 20th century literature for insights into recent events has focused on Orwell, and his dystopic visions contained in 1984 and Animal Farm. This book, about a New York huckster, the lives of beautiful people with more money than brains, vagaries of the NY real estate market (and superiority of Mid-Western values over those on the East coast), what is done for show versus what is real, or honest, and the careless Buchanans, Daisy and Tom, always content to allow others to pay the consequences of their epic incompetence, trusting in their wealth to carry them safely beyond the reach of the authorities. Yep, no relevance at all.

    Thanks for your feedback!
