    What was the point?

Ok, so I have just spent the good part of a week ploughing through this novel. I got to the last page and thought, what on earth was the point of those hundreds of chapters? I unfortunately cannot recommend this book unless your looking for a sleeping potion. It took at least two parts to get into, to appreciate the history that was being related. I found the authors style to be very vague and seemed more guided by a length of story rather than a quality of storytelling. Don't get me wrong, there are some beautifully poetic parts to the book, especially from Abelena towards the end when describing the Australian landscape. The entire book is full of eloquently descriptive sections, so why did the author not use that talent to fill out the characters with more body? They are strangers to us, a half dozen main actors in the story are without any padding. We do not get to know them at all by description prior to their acting, we only get to know some one dimensional view that is incredibly boring. We are told the way we must feel about these characters by what the author has told us rather than leading us into a relationship with them where we can feel as if we know them personally. None of them were likeable, except maybe the dairy boy and at the end I was even let down by the leading lady and her condemnation of him. The ending, oh my goodness, what was that? She walks off into nowhere with someone she doesent know after goodness knows how much heartbreak and sorrow. Disapoi

    Dont bother.

The plot outline sounded inviting but the execution is literary spam. I couldn't get through the first chapter before bailing out. Cliched, illinformed.
