    The Gropes

Tom Sharp in his younger days wrote wonderfully funny and salacious novels- Wilt and the Throwback come to mind. To say this novel was an utter disappointment is an understatement.

    The Gropes

Not Sharp at his best. I have read all his books and this is just not funny! The ending was daft....

    The Gropes

As a huge fan of Tom Sharpe, I must admit it was a let down. As a kid, when we had to finish writing stories, we would finish off with "...and then we all went home for tea." This ending had that feel about it.

    The Groups

Disappointed. I have read a lot of the earlier books and broke my sides laughing but only managed a small chuckle with this .ah well.

Good but not amongst the best

A brilliant idea for a story but it seems Tom's aging heart and body meant that some of the edginess and punch of his earlier work was lacking. Still makes for a great read that has you mentally casting actors and actresses alike as you go. Not sure what they'd make of it though were the phone to ring!
