    A tense and Gripping Thriller!

The Guest List by Lucy Foley is a gripping, tense thriller by Lucy Foley. Guests gather on a remote island, off the coast of Ireland, to celebrate the wedding of Jules, the publisher of a successful online magazine, and Will, an attractive television personality. As an immense storm approaches the island, frequently plunging the marquee into darkness, the tension really begins to mount. A distraught waitress stumbles into the marquee claiming to have discovered a body on the cliffside. With a guest list full of people with deep, dark secrets and many having a reason to kill another of the guests, who is the victim? And who is the Killer? The story is told from multiple points of view including the bride and the wedding planner. This gives a wonderful, unique perspective allowing the reader the opportunity to witness the story from many viewpoints. Lucy Foley manages to create an ominous sense of unease from the beginning which increases throughout until the satisfying, twisted end. This is emphasised by the remoteness of the island; that there is no quick and easy way to leave and that with the storm, no help can reach the island. The guest List is bursting with beautiful descriptive writing that quite literally sent a chill up my spine. “Sometimes when the wind is really up, it seems to carry from here the echoes of women from centuries past performing the Caoineadh, their keening for the dead.” It is so very cleverly written, it kept me guessing right up to the end. Gripping and tense, creepy and atmospheric. The perfect combination! This is the second book that I have read by Lucy Foley and I look forward to reading many more in the future. Highly recommended!!

    The Guest List

Just as good as the Hunting Party. A good twisting finish.

A good murder mystery that will keep you guessing

Despite never reviews I did enjoy this murder mystery but I found it ebbed and flowed very regularly, st times frustratingly so. The constant jumping forward and back didn’t add to the story in my opinion and I didn’t like how Johnno’s character was written and how almost every single page relating to his character referred in a sinister way to how he and Will has a shared past and would watch each other’s backs. It was annoyingly in your face. The twists were good though. And I liked the way it all came together in the end so I give it three and a half stars.
