  • Good story...

This was the first Louise Penny book I read, and I have to admit that I was not a fan. However, after doing some research I discovered I was not the target audience for this book. It was written so that it could be enjoyed by emerging adult readers who generally have a difficult time finding age-appropriate stories written at a level they can read. Great job, Louise Penny! I have since begun reading her series and absolutely love them!

  • Short & sweet.

Predictable plot, readable but really just a nice excuse to stop in at Three Pines and visit with our favourite folk in picturesque Quebec. No real depth to the new characters introduced here, they have no discernable impact on our familiars, so the story is the poorer for that, although Gamache is his reliable self, so enjoyable if not memorable.

  • Trop court

J'aurais aimé que l'intrigue soit plus complexe. Je viens de terminer Still Life et c'est le genre complexité que je recherchais.

  • Great quick read

It was the same great story telling of the Inspector Gamache series but in a quick read. I enjoyed it.

  • The Hangman

This mystery story was too simplistic and devoid of the warm atmosphere found in the author's novels.
