  • Wonderful traditional regency

I love regencies by Joan Smith. Sweet, funny and clean they are very much in the tradition of Georgette Heyer. The Hermit's Daughter is fantastic. Sally and Montstuart are a perfect pair and their courtship is a delight. These two leave the billing and cooing to Sal's sister and Derwent while they excel at bickering, trading insults and trying to stay one step ahead of the other. In some books such an antagonistic relationship between the H/h is frustrating or annoying but in this book it works. With both the H and the h's POV (admittedly more h) we get insight into an unusual and hilarious courtship. And the secondary characters are a hoot. I am so glad these out of print works are available once again.

    Thanks for your feedback!
