    Desirable art

This tale covers a lot of territory with wit and intrigue. The provenance of any artwork by a famous artist must be a story in itself but this one ties contemporary and historical drama together so well it's a pleasure to read. What a romance!

    Much ado about nothing

To be honest I couldn't understand what the fuss was about. It's surprising this book was nominated for a prize. It was far too long with as many characters as 'War and Peace' which leads to superficiality. In summary it's about the contested ownership of a painting. The author does raise a good point about the huge sums of money paid for art - without questioning where the money of the private individuals who patronise auction houses comes from. I kept longing for the end!
