  • Good book

Loved it! I enjoyed the first book The Duke's Shotgun Wedding and this one did not disappoint. I loved the flow of the story, and how quickly I became invested in the characters. I adored Anthony. He was sweet, charming, but with that edginess of an alpha male and definitely sexy. He made the story came alive for me and kept me hooked. He wasn't your typical male that had tons of mistresses and did not want a wife.He actually wanted a family, but had a scandal in his closet that could affect his pursuit of any respectable lady. Of course he saw Phillipa Peppiwell at a ball and wham! instant attraction...he then spoke with her and got double wham. Then the fun ensued. I really enjoyed his pursuit of her and Phillipa eventual surrender was sweet and hot. Phillipa herself was a pretty good character...with her own secrets. I liked her..she was willful, passionate, and charming in her own way. She did frustrate me a few times especially her refusal to marry someone as scrumptious as Anthony, but I did understand her fear and insecurities and that only made me cheer for her to have her happy ever after even more. I also got to spend more time with Sebastian. I fell in love with him in The Duke's Shotgun wedding but I had wanted a little bit more of him. I felt like I got that closure. LOL. I am also highly anticipating their sister Constance's story. Good read

What a great story, with characters that you become invested in very quickly. I loved Phillipa because she stood up for herself without being a unlikeable. Anthony is just a delight. This is a story I recommend reading. Having read the first one in this series I was already a fan of Ms Reid.

  • Great story!

Now even though I really liked this book I got frustrated because I read The Dukes Shotgun Wedding first and started to think I read them in the wrong order. Sebastian and Jocelyn's story seemed to be a spin off of sorts from this book. Anthony and Jocelyn appear and have a side story in the book but it sort of gives away some spoilers for each book. Which is why I got confused and thought I read the books in the wrong order. While I love Stacey's books this one in the series only wasn't a *gasping* book as The Duke's Shotgun Wedding. Which I gave a definite 5 star. Stacy doesn't disappoint with her writing and HAE's. Regardless I still enjoyed the book!
