  • Heady little guidebook

Just finished The Islanders and am still working on what it represented. It's something of a tesseract onion, layered and twisted. A lot of folks in my book club have taken issue with the lack of plot, but I really enjoyed it. It'll probably be five star once I wrap my head around it, I feel like The Islanders will be staying with me for awhile.

    Thanks for your feedback!

  • A quirky pleasure

It must be almost half a century since I first read Christopher Priest. Always original and thought-provoking, his work is reminiscent of sketches or poems. His imaginary worlds can be bizarrely alien or discontertingly familiar. His dream archipelago is an intoxicating blend of the islands of the Caribbean, Svalbaard, Tasmania, Ikaria and Alderney. Dr Moreau has probably visited and HP Lovecraft may well have had a hand.
