  • Wonderful story

This novella centres on the relationship between the Dowager Countess of Blackbourne - the mother of Nicolas Sheridan from book 1 in this series - and Arran Sutherland, who's family owns the property next door. The two are reunited after nearly thirty years, but it is at first a rocky reunion. Like so many, Gloria (the Countess) was forced to marry a man she didn't love to satisfy the needs of family and fortunes. The fall out of the ending of that relationship forms the basis of this story. It also proves that, especially in historical romance, where couples are often very young, that they don't need to be to have a satisfying romantic story. The hero and heroine in this book are reaching (or just over) 50. And yet, there is just as much romantic tension, it is just as sensual (perhaps even more so) than any other typical story I've read. It proves it can be well done - very well done - and actually, when you have characters who are older, have more to regret perhaps, more history, more to overcome, it can make the conflict that much greater and the ending so very satisfying, as The Lady's Sinful Secret has proven.

    Thanks for your feedback!
