    the best novel so far

The Lady Who Loved Him Everyone has been waiting for Chloe’s story, as we all loved her, and ached for her to have someone to love her for herself. And so, it has finally come. But this review is for Leo: I, as many others who have read Ms Caldwell’s stories have come to love most of the characters in her books and even the rakes were not so bad in the end. We met Tennyson as he walked among the pages of former books and he was a bastard in the first degree.. He was a character I wanted to jump all over, stab him in his black heart and then throw him on a dung heap!! He could never become likeable in my estimation...yet he kept popping up to my ire. Then one day he started to talk to our beloved author and as his story unfolds we learn how his character was formed at a young age. How his soul was shredded by a monster of a father, how his uncle William had taken him under his wing, gave him a career in spying, and The Brethren became his mistress and his family. They encouraged his loose morals, and used him as long as he procured information for the Crown. However he was looked down on by polite society and never allowed in the inner circles of the Gentlemen and their clubs. I was taught at a young age: “ Never Judge anyone until you have walked a mile in their shoes “ and I am afraid I forgot that axiom when Tennyson first appeared. He was such a black heart, I never thought to wonder why,or even care. I just hated him. ! But I actually cried for Leo as his story progressed, and his real character and demons were revealed. This is indeed a story of redemption of the worst rake ever. Chloe taught him how to love and laugh and to be human. I loved this book and it will be read and re-read many times.. I would give it 10 stars if possible
