  • Reading should not require a dictionary.

I love Donaldson and have been reading his books for 30 years. However this last series is so bizarrely written. Don't get me wrong, the story is just as addictive as ever. However he uses words rarely seen outside of a readers digest word challenge or a thesaurus. It took me all 4 books to get used to his vocabulary. Even the E-reader dictionary does not contain all his used words.

  • Quantity not Quality

I've read ths 3 times now. The story has lots of problems with twists and turns that are clearly hokum made up to get Donaldson out of a trap of his own making. it should have been shorter, actually made some sense and not have massive plot points glossed over like a bad episode of 1960s Batman. Not really worth the wait for those of us who have been following since 1978.

  • Beautifully written and descriptive, Stirring

Wonderful as always with Stephen Donaldson. Very deep and complex stories interwoven with great empathy and insight into the human psyche and emotion.
