  • A superb read!!

Bernard Cornwell has in these chronicles, woven an exciting series of interlinked stories based on the Saxon times in England and the making of the country. I enjoy history and although these books are fiction they are written in such a way as to give you a more-than potted history of the times. A thoroughly good read, highly recommended!!!

  • Love these books!

Amazing. Love this era and Cornwell brings it to life so well. There is never a dull moment in all three books and the relationships between the characters are rich and interesting.

  • The Last Kingdom series - books 1 - 3

Sheer and utter brilliance. Extremely well written and very readable. Read all 3 books in a week. Can't wait to read the next book. Now a confirmed fan of Bernard Cornwell, the author of these books and many more

  • First rate

I've read several books of this kind. None live up to what Bernard Cornwell can have you experience when reading one of his novels. His style transports you rigbt there along the shield wall and you can almost smell the blood and hear the war cry of Lord Uthred. Also look into the Saxon Tales.

  • Great for historical readers.

These books were very well written. I have watched the Netflix version, but I also like to read the books the story is based on, because it always has more detail in it, than in the TV version.
