  • Splendid Historical Novel

Soaring High for love and country are a central theme in "The Last Letter From Juliet" by Melanie Hudson. This surreal adventure set in Word War II pulls the reader into a woman's life filled with difficult choices. Choices that turn her life into an adventure! During the era of the second world war women were not expected to be put into the danger of the "fight". But the brave ladies in Hudson's novel shucked off the conventions of the day to aid in the effort to save their county! While not facing combat, they face dangers that put them in perilous situations, Does love factor into this picture? Who can trust that if you fall for someone during a time of war that in the end you'd be together? This complex set of circumstances plagues the main character as she sores above the clouds as the war comes to the shores of England. And how does her story play into a modern day woman's choices? If your a fan of historical based novels like I am, is a book you should not miss! I enjoyed the tying together of two women's stories who experienced separate but closely tied lives. Delve into this novel with both feet and I believe you'll be one happy reader!
