  • Last stand of the tin can sailors

An outstanding book that reads like a fictional thriller. Great character development on both sides of the battle make for a very interesting read.. exciting right to the end, I highly recommend this book to anyone with an internet in naval warfare

  • Much ado about nothing

Too much information of triviality ie. Ships menu!!! Not enough information about tactics and strategies. As military books go.....a waste of time.

  • Riveting Reading

This is war delineated and dissected in ways you've never seen. This is the grim and gritty reality that movies will never portray in their quest for individual true American heroes: all these sailors were heroes. Like other historical accounts you come away wondering how anyone survived the follies of the top leaders whose hubris led to deadly screw ups over and over. Thanks to Hornfischer for bringing to light the sacrifice and humanity of the common sailor.

    Thanks for your feedback!
