    Loved

5 star review of The Lemon Sisters (Wildstone #3) by Jill Shalvis I haven’t read any of the previous books in this series but was able to read this one with no issues. Seven years ago Brooke Lemon left Wildstone, CA bound for Los Angeles. Now a producer for a Travel show, she has no plans to return. She cut ties with her sister Mindy as well as the man who held her heart, Garrett Montgomery. When Mindy shows up unexpectedly begging for her sisters help, Brooke feels obligated to help. Mindy looks nothing like the poised and in control women she has always been. Instead she is frazzled, distraught and close to a breakdown. Brooke, along with Mindy’s three children head to Wildstone. Of course she runs in to Garrett and both realise that they still have feelings for one another. I really loved Mindy’s children and it was heart warming to watch as Brooke re-connected with them. It was also interesting to watch as Brooke and Mindy tried to fix their relationship whilst Mindy trued to fix her marriage to Linc. As long buried secrets rise to the surface, Brooke, Mindy and Garrett will have to learn to trust one another again. The chemistry between Brooke and Garrett is strong and both come to realise that what they have is worth fighting for. Jill Shalvis writes characters that are human, that have flaws, vulnerabilities and are easy to relate too. There is always a lot of depth to her characters and The Lemon Sisters is a good example of this.

    Sisters in crisis!

A story of two halves. You have Mindy, who believes her marriage is in trouble and Brooke, who has kept secrets from everyone, including her family. These have caused her to close herself off for years. Now all that is set to change. Mindy is on the verge of a breakdown and Brooke is the only one that can help. She returns to her home town to care for her sisters children. By doing so she must also confront the demons haunting her past. This includes Garrett, the only man she’s ever loved and the one whose heart she broke. He is adamant she won’t get another chance at his heart. With Brooke ready to confess her secrets of the past, will it be enough to repair the damage that she caused or are both her and Garrett destined to remain broken forever? When Mindy returns home, not only will she have to try to save her marriage, she will also have to face the real truth of her sister’s life. An emotional, heart stopping story of courage, acceptance and love. You need tissues for this one as it definitely tears at your heartstrings.

Funny, snarky, emotional - just fabulous!

As usual another hit from the very talented Jill Shalvis, and we're back in Wildstone. Even though this is part of a series it is really a standalone novel and you don't need to have read the others first, although why wouldn't you when they're so good?! This story is about two sisters, Brooke and Mindy. Brooke is the younger sister who left Wildstone and works in an exciting job, making travel films and travelling the world. Mindy is the stay-at-home Mum, with three young children, a doctor husband, and runs one of her parents POP Smoothie shops and has everything regimentally under control, down to having a manual of what everyone should do and when - a real control freak! The sisters used to be close, but since Brooke had a bad accident a while ago she's closed herself off a bit and they've lost that closeness, as Brooke avoids going back to Wildstone. But then Mindy turns up on Brooke's doorstep a hysterical mess, saying she's had enough and can't cope with anything any more as she's being pulled in too many directions. So Brooke steps up and swaps lives for a few days (that turns into a bit longer!). Mindy stayed at Brooke's apartment and destressed a bit, going out with Brooke's friends and living her life for a while, and Brooke finally went back to Wildstone to look after Mindy's children, while her husband Linc was away at a conference. Of course there is always a love interest, and Brooke was avoiding Wildstone because of Garrett, who she was involved with for a while, also next door neighbour and best friends with Mindy and Linc. Garrett isn't happy to see Brooke because she just dumped him and ran with no explanation 7 years ago. But the reason why comes out soon and they start getting closer again. This is just one of those great books about relationships and the trials and tribulations of life and family, but with the usual Jill Shalvis humour and snarkiness, and her perfect way of making you relate to, and sympathise with, each character. I loved them all, with all their flaws! I am a big fan of Jill Shalvis, and I don't even need to know what the book is about, I just know that if she wrote it I'm going to love it, a definite auto-buy author for me. Fabulous!
