  • Good "historical" novels !

A good introduction to Jack Higgins earlier novels. You will meet Liam Devlin, which is an important character in several other book. The characters are well done, but the reading is still light. There is a lot of background details about WWII and Ireland's IRA. For me, these were page turners.

  • Simply one of the best

Jack Higgins is one of my favourite authors - of all time. His work, especially in his earlier days, is 2nd to none. It is so difficult to put his books down and has frequently resulted in me neglecting my wife and tasks at home. The Liam Devlin novels are similar to a trilogy, taking the reader through 20+ years of adventures in Devlin's life. It is very hard to not like the scoundrel.

  • Higgins: one of the best of his genre

I read "The Eagle Has Landed" many years ago; enjoyed it then, enjoyed it now, even though a little dated. "Touch The Devil" was ok, although a little far-fetched. "Confessional" was the best of the three Devlin novels by far. Good story, excellent plots and sub-plots, kept me reading far into (several) nights.

  • Slainte.

This is my first time reading Confessional. As with all his novels there is plenty of action and drama. It 's hard not to like his anti-heroes and always sad when they finally lose.An excellent read.
