  • The Loney

-I received this book from the publisher in return for an honest review.- Before reading this book I've heard many positive opinions and this "ruined" all my expectations that maybe were too high. This is a strange book and write a review it's really complicated. I say this because in the book there are many well done parts, like the characters who are all realistic and well developed, but at the end of the book too much is unexplained, and you're waiting for a meaning or an answer but in the end there are just other questions. The writing style is slow and I think the plot has a big potential, because using a fanatic religious community gives the right gothic and creepy atmosphere to the story, but this book needs something more, I don't know precisely what.

  • Wonderful.

A "contemporary classic" it says on the cover. I was very sceptical at first. However, having finished reading, I can only agree.

  • REVIEW

An ok read although I found the ending vague about what actually happened and consequently unsatisfactory. For some reason the main character called his parents ‘Mummer’ and ‘Farther’ as this irritated me as contrived given that I’ve never heard anyone call their parents that. I won’t be racing to read the authors other books.

Was a huge effort to carry on reading, was dull and a massive let down. The ending made no sense, neither did the middle or beinning. Far too many unanswered questions.
