This could have been a good book, but the characters were not fleshed out enough and seemed rather flat and boring. Far too many sub-plots and peripheral characters that added nothing to the story made the whole novel wander aimlessly and endlessly. A dark and depressing tale with a twist at the end that was gut-wrenching. I enjoyed the setting of Savannah, Georgia and the historical references of life in the South for blacks in the 1930', 2 stars. Great author, bad book. Try "The Sound of Glass" instead.

    Thanks for your feedback!
