  • Powerful and moving

But then it makes you wonder how we're German prisoners of war treated if and when captured. This is how history lessons should be.

  • A must read for those interested in

A remarkable story of one man's efforts to retain his humanity in truly harrowing circumstances. This is a definite read for anyone who is interested in WW2 and the history of the Holocaust. Truly awe inspiring

  • Great book and amazing story

I really liked the story of the book. Unfortunately the part which includes the events of the title are short in comparison to other parts of the book. This doesn't change the score that I have given to this book.

  • Excellent book, worth reading

I came across this book by chance in the Kobo store, and thought the title intriguing enough to buy a copy. A very interesting book, well written, and a fascinating subject. It was also very moving in places. The way that Denis Avey writes made me feel like I was there with him every step of the way. I'm grateful he chose to share his experiences, we all should know what happened in World War 2, and especially in Auschwitz and with the evil that the Nazis perpetrated on innocent people.  I highly recommend this book.

    Thanks for your feedback!
