Gangster ghosts arent so scary in an asylum, fun r

Murder, mystery, trapped in a haunted asylum, and gangster ghosts. What more could you want? I loved how each ghost had a back story. It wasnt just oh heres a ghost and oh look theres another one. These ghosts all had their part in this story and they were fully fleshed out characters. One of the ghosts, named Levi became a character that I just absolutely loved. For a second there I thought the author was going to go cliche with who the murderer was but who the actual murderer was, wasnt who I had initially guessed. This was an enjoyable read and it was suspenseful in parts. Though not revolutionary, I couldnt find anything to critique.

This book was entertaining and enjoyable. I loved the style of writing, the cast of characters and the plot. The mystery was good, no plot hole, and it kept me guessing till the end. Even if it's the 8th installment in this series and I just read two there were no problems in understanding the plot and the characters. I look forward to reading the next installment. Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

    Highly recommended series and author!

This was by far the most intense Southern Ghost Hunter book to date. I couldn't put it down until I devoured every last page! While there are some callbacks to the rest of the series this could easily be read as a stand alone novel. This series has been getting better and better and while I definitely enjoy the cozier side of the first few novels it was nice to have one that was fairly dark, although I definitely don't want the series to go that way entirely either. I can't wait to see where the rest of the series goes and if Frankie can every gain his freedom, and if he will even want it if he does. I assume Verity will be too far under his skin to ever break up the team. Hopefully Ellis and Verity can keep their relationship going after the events of this book, because I really want to see some more snarkiness between Verity and Virginia, Ellis's mother. Highly recommended series and author!

This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I did not guess the murderer.

Don't read this one in the dark by yourself! Angie upped the anti on ghosts this time.
