    Evocative and absorbing

As has been frequently noted this is a very long book but no less absorbing for that. Mantel lets you inhabit a world long past but made familiar in her two preceding books. I was glad of this final visit and to the climax which history had already revealed but Mantel made currant.

The Booker Prize is in the bag!

Not quite as well done as the other two in the series, but a tour-de-force just the same. A multitude of characters, many with similar names and taking one another's titles, at the whim of King Henry caused this reader some confusion. The trilogy, taken as a whole, constitute a masterpiece. Ms Mantel is a fabulous researcher and author.

    The Mirror and the Light

Such an extraordiary book. So well written it takes you right in to the time and place and you fell you know the characters personally. I am lamenting because i have finished it and fear no other book could be as good.

    Thomas Cromwell - his life

Overly long but worth every minute spent reading it, this is a tour de force for its beauty, erudition and historical veracity. An amazing look into the life and motivations of Thomas Cromwell.

    Astounding

This was a very fitting final book in the trilogy. Like the previous two it brings to life the hazards and intrigue of the Tudor court and the unpredictable rule of Henry VIII. Outstanding.
