  • Average Christie

I believe this was the second Poirot novel and it is certainly not one of the best. Set on the northern French coast and told from the viewpoint and the first person of Captain Hastings. A rich man is murdered on a new unfinished golf course, the usual red herrings are thrown in there is a rival French detective and Hasting falls in love again. To mind the Hastings/Cinderella romance spoils the story and is a clumsy plot device to bolster a weak finale. However the novel is an easy read and there are enough twists to keep you guessing to the end
