  • Excellent Storytelling

There is something about the way that Patrick Rothfuss tells his stories that make them feel very intimate and personal. I enjoy the way he creates and explores complex cultures. The characters feel well developed and believable. The story itself is essentially a recount of events from the perspective of someone in hiding from a past they need to escape. It feels like the past and the present are slowly converging as events in the world begin to 'bump' into his disguised identity.

  • Awful

I dont understand the love for this book. The main character is the most annoying ive ever read. He's the smartest, most talented person of all time. Go read some Robin Hobb if you want a story with realistic charactors.

  • Amazing

Very hard to put down. Best fantasy book I've read. Hopefully the sequels are just as good. Happy reading.

  • Insightful, moving, enchanting, and compelling

This is the second time I've read this first book in the series whilst I wait on the third instalment. It has lost none of the charm, magic, or beauty second time round. The writing style is clever yet clear. The descriptions of feelings, concepts, and characters build easily into a colourful and detailed world brought to life by a story full of joy, sorrow, and wonder. Truly one of the most enjoyable books I have in my library.

  • Slice of life

I didn't like it. This book has a lot of similarities with a book like Harry Potter. A boy goes to school (but a university) and there are some adventures there as well as bickering between students. The main difference here: there didn't seem to be a story. It went nowhere. At the beginning of the book the Chadrian seemed to be the evil of the story, but they were barely mentioned for the most part. Since there was no story to follow, it was boring in my opinion.
